It’s Always Been Dogs
My first ever word as a child was “Dog” and it’s fair to say I have been obsessed with them ever since. They are uniquely special animals and I am very fortunate to have built my life around them.
My journey began growing up in Gloucestershire, spending every minute possible surrounded by dogs, before moving to London to develop my career. Fifteen years later, I have brought my professional experience and knowledge back home to Cheltenham where I am proud to have founded Chris May Dog Training.
I’m not the only one who thinks dogs are amazing: over 10 million UK homes have a dog. And, if you’re reading this, I’m sure you feel the same way.
However, I do wonder if we understand them as well as we could.
I mean, how would we feel living surrounded by another species but unable to speak their language, or truly understand their strange way of living?
We expect so much of dogs but the truth is only we are in possession of a mind capable of understanding them.
They try their best of course – they’re dogs after all! – but for a truly harmonious relationship we must learn their language.
This mindset is the cornerstone of my training:
To communicate in a way that is natural, easily understood and, most importantly, works.
Understanding Dogs Is Everything
To be a truly effective trainer you have to understand dogs – I mean deeply understand their special mind, physiology and what controls their behaviour.
For me, this comes from years of professional experience, as well as an ongoing commitment to serious academic study.
I hold numerous qualifications in canine psychology, behaviour and training, but the work is never done. Science is always moving forward and ever providing new insights into our faithful friends.
When training with me, you can be sure my methods are based on the latest research and backed up with extensive real-world experience.
I have done that hard work for you, so let me reveal the hidden workings of your dog and show you exactly what works to transform their behaviour.
Training My Way
What can you expect when choosing me as your dog trainer? Firstly, our sessions will be relaxed and enjoyable for you and your dog, as no one learns best when they’re stressed or bored!
It is my job to empower you, and I take that role very seriously. This means you will be shown how to stay calm and in control of any situation, and you will learn skills that work reliably when you need them most.
People are like dogs: everyone’s different. Instead of using a set plan, I will build a training course that is fully customised around you and your dog. You will get straightforward, easy-to-understand explanations and simple, clear instructions that are proven to work.
